Point Reyes National Seashore

1 Bear Valley Rd
Point Reyes, CA 94956
(415) 464-5100

Description:

A vast site of natural beauty, along with featuring lots of ocean access, Point Reyes National Seashore has history and adventure all rolled into one great destination. Sites like the Point Reyes Lighthouse and the 1858 Pierce Ranch offer a taste of the land's diverse human history. One of the more interesting (albeit unverifiable) points of the park's history is that it served as the landing point for Sir Francis Drake during his 1579 exploration of the area. Over 140 miles of trails crisscross the park, providing any number of fascinating sights for the dedicated hiker and the heavy surf of the Pacific Ocean at this park makes for some spectacular water views. Located north of San Francisco past the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, this park is less packed than many farther to the south.
