Focused on the history of the region beginning with the California Gold Rush of the mid-19th century, the Discovery Museum Golf Rush History Center has numerous gallery areas, exhibits and interactive displays intended to educate and entertain. Visitors can see pieces of gold mined in the area, learn about the economic impact of the Gold Rush and the later agricultural boom and gain insight into the lives of some of the people who migrated across the country in search of riches. One of the many museums in the historic Old Sacramento shopping and entertainment district, other nearby museums include the California State Railroad Museum and the Wells Fargo Museum.
